THE VERTO ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Ready to see the world and launch your college career with Verto? Here’s everything you need to know about our unique application process. If you still have questions, you can schedule a call with an admissions counselor.

What We Look For

Verto students expect more from their education and from themselves. They want knowledge you can’t find on the internet, experiences that expand their horizons, tangible skills for life, and relationships that last a lifetime. Here are some of the characteristics we look for in prospective Verto students.

Curious

You seek to understand rather than judge. You begin relationships by asking questions, and you seek out new points of view. You are eager to learn about yourself, explore new passions, and clarify the path you want to take in life.

Adventurous

If you want a standard college experience, Verto is not for you, and that’s okay. If you’re ready to get out of your comfort zone and have some amazing new experiences, then we’ve got a whole world to explore together.

Dedicated

Verto programs are challenging inside and outside the classroom. You’ll be in an unfamiliar situation, and there are no blow-off classes at Verto. We’ve got your back every step of the way, but you have to put in the work to get the most out of this opportunity.

Compassionate

We want students who look out for others, care about their communities, and treat everyone with respect. We’re all in this world together, and a little kindness can make all the difference. (Also, traveling with jerks is the worst.)

Mature

Our number one priority is keeping students safe while overseas. We cannot do this without your cooperation. Reckless behavior is simply too dangerous in foreign countries. Our programs are for responsible global citizens.

Application Process

  1. COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION TO VERTO

    • Our standard application is very similar to the Common Application used by many US colleges and universities.
    • Your single Verto application will give you access to any Verto semester except for the Honors Program, which is more selective and requires a supplemental application.
    • In general, students must have a GPA of 2.5 or above to qualify for our semesters. Exceptional students with a GPA below 2.5 will be reviewed holistically after submitting all listed documents here.
    • Students must have a valid passport in order to participate in Verto’s international semesters. All passports should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the program (12 months for the Spain semester). If this is not the case, students should renew their passport as soon as possible.
  2. Meet with a Verto Admissions Counselor and Submit Your Documents

    • Meeting with a counselor helps us get to know you and learn more about your goals for college and beyond. This is not an interview and you can schedule a call before you even apply.
    • Submit your high school transcript and a 500-word writing sample.
  3. RECEIVE AN ADMISSION DECISION TO VERTO

    • Verto admissions are done on a rolling basis. You will receive an admissions decision from Verto within 2 weeks. You’ve got a life to plan, we won’t keep you waiting.
  4. SELECT YOUR PARTNER SCHOOLS

    • You can apply to any partner school in our network using your Verto application. If you need help, our college counselors can work with you one-on-one to determine what types of schools would be the best fit and which partner schools you’d like to forward your application to.
    • You are not required to select a partner school to attend after Verto. If you want to attend a non-partner school, we will help you navigate the transfer process and be there every step of the way.
    • If you are unsure about your path, you are invited to work with our college counselors at any point before, during, or after your Verto semester.
  5. RECEIVE ADMISSION DECISIONS TO PARTNER SCHOOLS

    • Most partner schools will also provide a decision within 2-3 weeks, but a few can take longer.
    • Students who gain admission to Verto are guaranteed admission to at least one of our partner colleges and have an increased chance of gaining acceptance to their dream schools.
  6. SELECT YOUR VERTO SEMESTER & MAKE A DEPOSIT TO HOLD YOUR SEAT

    • We have a limited number of spots each semester, and they will fill up. Your spot is not guaranteed until you make a deposit.
