Why the Verto London study abroad experience?
The London abroad location is a great fit for young adults who are excited by…
City Life
London is a truly global city. You’ll have the opportunity to discover the treasures and hidden gems of this dynamic city. More than 650,000 English and International University students live and study in London, so you will have the chance to befriend people from all over the world if you choose to seek that out.
As you will be living in the heart of London, getting around by foot and on public transit will become a part of your everyday experience – as it is with all Londoners!
Apartment Housing
You’ll live in shared accommodations, rooming with other Vertoans. These may be shared student residences or student apartments. There may be other university students living in the building. You can expect to share a bedroom with other participants. You’ll also get to flex (or acquire) your culinary skills as you’ll be responsible for your own meals. Don’t worry – basic kitchen tools are provided!
The accommodations are within a 30-minute walk and/or tube ride to the study center.. All participants live in Zones 1 and 2, and will receive an Oyster Card for use on local transportation within these zones.
Free Time & More Independence
You should expect a fairly typical college schedule. There will be out of class experiential learning activities for courses throughout the week, some of which may occur during class time plus weekend excursions. Your abroad staff in London will also plan plenty of excursions to help you engage with British culture and get to know London. You will still have plenty of free time to explore the city independently.
Since you’ll be living independently and managing your own schedule outside of class, activities, and excursions, London is a great fit for young adults who are looking to develop life skills such as budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, and independent living.
Art, Business, History & Culture
London is full of many free or low cost events and activities such as football games (soccer!), street food tours, museums, art exhibits, and more that you will discover both as part of your studies and in your free time.
Foodie Experiences
Meals are not included in the London abroad experience. As such, you can cook in your flat and/or dive into London’s epic culinary scene! This will also give you a chance to hone some personal finance skills as you balance grocery shopping and dining out.
