Community Manager

We are hiring a Community Manager for our quickly growing team in Portland, Oregon. The Community Manager is responsible for giving our students the 10 star experience – from enrolling with Verto to arriving on campus. They will be responsible for building our ambassador program and filling all of our social media channels with the best student content. The Community Manager will report to will work with the marketing team to build community between Verto Education students and tell alumni stories. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who can operate at start-up speed and is not afraid to experiment. We provide a flexible and enjoyable work environment that values inclusion, equity, diversity, and global citizenship.

This position will report to our Program Director, Anna White.

Responsibilities:

  • Give students a 10 star experience – always thinking of ways to get them excited about their semester with Verto.
  • Manage and scale the Verto Education Ambassador program. 
  • Create amazing welcome packages and swag for students. 
  • Share student stories with family and friends while students are abroad. 
  • Manage and grow engagement across all social media channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Verto Alumni parents and students.
  • Facilitate alumni events for prospective students in collaboration with the Admissions Team. 
  • Launch Monthly Newsletter.
  • Build community between Verto investors, supporters, alumni, parents, and current students. 
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of professional development opportunities for alumni. 
  • Be a visionary for the future of Verto Education and always be thinking innovatively about how we can continue to impact students throughout college and beyond. 

Job Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in community management, marketing, student affairs, higher education or a related field. 
  • Significant experience working, living, or study abroad required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree

Director of Academics

Verto is on a mission to help change Higher Education in positive, student-focused ways. We want to make immersive travel and experiential education a core part of every students’ college degree. Verto Education offers the only international freshman year that partners with colleges to give students an admission decision and full class credits. Through Verto, students are accepted to college and stay on track to graduate in four years. 

We are hiring a Director of Academics for our quickly growing team in Portland, Oregon (open to remote). The Academic Director is responsible for quality assurance and successful delivery of the Verto Education academic curriculum across all international locations and models. The Director will work with co-founder and CPO Mallory to create curricula and an overall academic experience in Verto’s vision and be responsible for liaising with Verto Partner Institution admissions teams as well as international partner campus academic teams. This person will ensure that all aspects of the academic experience meet and exceed the expectations of our students, partner institutions, faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who can operate at start-up speed and is not afraid to experiment. This position will report to our co-founder and CPO, Mallory Meiser.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor the student academic experience, identify areas of improvement, and collaborate with international teams to implement enhancements
  • Develop Student Learning Outcomes and ensure all courses are assessed and facilitated in accordance with SLOs
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the review of Verto academic policies and implement recommendations to align Verto’s policies with U.S. higher education standards
  • Ensure best practices for delivery of new academic operations
  • Oversee pre-departure academic operations including but not limited to low GPA reviews, course registration, placement exams, and special accommodations
  • Map all courses from on-campus and field semesters to Verto Partner institution course registration system
  • Serve on Verto’s Programming Board to proactively seek ways to support student success while onsite
  • Oversee the execution of academic operations that support onsite academic delivery such as course set-up in Canvas and student and faculty access to the Learning Management System
  • Oversee the use of Verto’s learning management system (Canvas) and ensure Verto academic staff are properly trained
  • Oversee the timely and accurate processing of student transcripts
  • Manage all School of Record compliance responsibilities including academic performance reviews, annual reporting, and course audits
  • Oversee the submission of new course syllabi and faculty to Verto’s School of Record
  • Serve as a subject matter expert responding to the requests of University Relations, Partnership Services, Enrollment and Marketing to include but not limited to:
  • Contributing academic content for strategic Request for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Developing materials to articulate Verto’s academic advantage
  • Participating in video conferences or in-person meetings with university personnel
  • Responding to the unique academic requests of our U.S. university partners
  • Oversee staff responsible for responding to curriculum integration requests
  • Monitor the integrity of Verto’s academic program data and student academic records
  • Resolve escalated academic student issues in a timely fashion keeping the student’s best interest in mind while protecting Verto’s academic integrity
  • Support Verto partner campus faculty and Academic Directors worldwide with training needed for staff and faculty
  • Evaluate the academic credentials of potential new international academic partners in conjunction with Campus Partnership & Program Operations Teams
  • Support with global assessment initiatives, classroom and faculty management matters, and other projects as needed
  • Develop & Monitor Student Academic Improvement plans and Academic Probation & Dismissal policies & procedures

Job Qualifications:

  • Masters required; PhD preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in higher education, with a considerable background in academic management & administration  
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with campus-wide academic procedures and academic regulatory & accrediting bodies  
  • At least 3 years of experience managing staff  
  • Experience with international education 
  • Demonstrated ability to present formally to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner   
  • Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships  
  • Experience working with a globally dispersed team of academic professionals

Regional Admissions Representative

Verto Education is hiring Regional Admissions Representatives to help recruit passionate college-bound students to join our rapidly growing freshman semesters abroad. This position is responsible for one of twelve regions within the United States, and will have ownership over all admissions efforts within the region. The Admissions Representative plays a critical role in Verto’s mission to change higher education. Verto Education was founded to make travel the path of least resistance to a college education and degree. We offer the only international freshman year experience that partners with colleges to give full class credits so students can graduate in four years. We believe in inclusion, transparency, access, equity, and above all, the power of travel to foster empathy and kindness across cultures.

Do you have a passion for travel and working with students? Are you interested in traveling the country to talk about experiential education with students, educators, and families?

The Regional Admissions Representative promotes Verto Education at schools, fairs, conferences, and one-on-one meetings. This is a contract position from December 4 to May 8, with the possibility of extension based on performance. Admissions Representatives report directly to our Senior Associate Director of Admissions and will work closely with our COO.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Verto as a respectful and knowledgeable ambassador of our teams around the world
  • Drive enrollment and expand Verto’s footprint through direct student and educational advisor outreach
  • Identify new markets for Verto’s semesters
  • Schedule and perform five (on average) high-value outreach events per week, including school presentations, fairs, and meetings with school administrators to introduce Verto’s programs and partner colleges
  • Schedule and perform five home visits with interested families per week.
  • Maintain and grow the region’s portfolio of contacts, schools, and organizations, and build and nurture relationships with each
  • Make regular follow up calls with student leads you have identified, and assist with other student relationships/lead follow-up as needed
  • Keep an updated calendar that is public to Verto’s team
  • Provide detailed records and insights from all meetings and presentations in Verto’s CRM
  • Communicate regularly with other members of Verto’s team
  • Attend trainings with Admissions team and founders to become proficient in Verto’s programs and outreach techniques

Job Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: 1+ years of professional experience in admissions, sales, and recruitment, preferably with a student-focused organization*
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Travel, leadership, and/or education with high school students
  • Professional working proficiency in English. Additional languages are a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the US
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends
