My favorite thing about Verto is the staff. They’ve been so supportive throughout the whole process, and the community they’ve created is so welcoming and warm. I’ll never forget the incredible friends I made throughout this journey, or the amazing staff and the beautiful city that we lived in. Prague will always be special to me. I can’t wait to come back in the future and look back at all the memories I’ve made while studying here.

How We Foster Success

Students chart their path towards self-authorship through Verto Discovery, our framework for community at Verto. Your student will develop new skills to navigate challenges, understand more about who they are, and build deeper community and global connections.

Between Care Team Circles, small group workshops, student clubs, excursions, and volunteer opportunities, students cultivate a sense of belonging and engage directly with our 4 Community Values:

COMPASSION • VULNERABILITY RESPONSIBILITY • TRANSFORMATION

What Is A Verto Care Team?

The Care Team is an integral part of Verto’s unique approach to the study abroad experience. Each Verto participant is paired with an Academic Success Coordinator (ASC) and Student Life Coordinator (SLC) who act as pillars of support to provide mentorship and ensure your student has access to the resources they need to succeed.

While abroad, your student will have multiple one-on-one meetings to discuss goals and create actionable plans to achieve them. Additionally, your student’s ASC will work with them to create their best-fit post-Verto plan, including the college application and transfer process.

From

VERTO PARENTS

First and foremost Bryanna has made an amazing group of friends that she will have for the rest of her life. Being able to experience and live amongst other cultures, she is now able to appreciate other view points, social issues, and her own cultural diversity and background. She has gained valuable real life lessons on living independently as an adult and the freedoms and challenges it presents.

Jon Valderrama ,

My daughter matured more in one semester than I expected her to in years of college! She is now a global citizen with awareness, sensitivity, and education to the larger issues facing our world. She is forever changed, on a soul level, by this incredible and wholly unique experience. Now she’s signed up for her 4th Verto semester! I am beyond grateful for the gift of Verto. If the Gods had invented the ideal experience for both kids and parents for a start to college, this would be it!

Bridget Saladino,

I feel like it has been the best thing for Hannah! She has grown in so many ways, and seen so many different places. Her first semester taught her about the kind of person she wants to be. She also didn’t know that she had such an interest in art history until her art history class in Florence, Italy. She was amazed and continues to be interested in art history.

FAQ

Verto participants earn 12-17 transferable college credits via courses delivered by our Academic Provider, the University of New Haven. Verto works directly with university partners to review how these credits will transfer to each university, and students receive a final transcript from the University of New Haven at the end of their Verto experience. While abroad, our onsite Academic Success Coordinators provide your student with the support and resources they may need to achieve their academic goals and post-Verto plans.

While abroad, Verto participants are required to have an operating smartphone that can make/receive calls, send/receive text messages, and that has a data plan. For safety purposes, their phones must be turned on and reachable at all times. Our team provides information about how to set up phone plans and helps students acquire local SIM cards on-site. In urgent situations, participants and families have access to our 24-hour emergency line, which they can call for immediate assistance.

Verto offers a variety of grant and scholarship opportunities as well as a payment plan option. For more information, please visit Financial Grants and Scholarships. External grants/scholarships may be applied to further reduce the cost as well.

From the moment you secure your spot with Verto until the day your student arrives home, your family will be supported by an entire team of experienced staff. Before embarking on the experience, our Student Onboarding Advisors are there to help with pre-departure preparations and any questions your family has. Upon arrival, Verto participants are greeted at the airport by experienced onsite staff who provide a shuttle service to their accommodations. The first week includes extensive orientation programming to help your student learn important health and safety information, get oriented around their host city, build community, and prepare for academic success. Throughout the semester, your student will work directly with their assigned Academic Success and Student Life Coordinators who are there for daily support, mentorship, and to connect them with any resources they may need. Additionally, faculty work to create inclusive and welcoming classrooms where your student can thrive academically.

Your student’s first step is to submit a free application.* After their application is submitted, they will be matched with a counselor who can answer any and all of your questions. As part of our application process, we also require your student to 1) complete a Family Admissions Call with a parent/guardian and their assigned counselor, and 2) upload their high school transcript and a writing sample. Keep in mind that we offer $500 off of tuition for students who complete the application process within three weeks via our Accelerated Application Discount. So we highly encourage your participation in helping your student complete the 2 steps mentioned above as soon as possible.

*IMPORTANT: If your student has been offered participation with Verto via a college decision letter, they should go to the link within that letter and follow the steps indicated on that page. The application process is different for students who come in through a university.

Join us for a virtual Info Session! You’ll hear about what your student can expect while abroad with Verto and get a chance to ask any questions you may have. You can also reach us at (971) 257-8918 or via email at [email protected]. We’re here to help!
