Verto Discovery
Our Programming Model
Join the most comprehensive first-year abroad community for students eager to gain new world perspectives and become the authors of their own lives.
When you enroll in a Verto abroad experience, you’ll embark on Verto Discovery, our programming model designed around four community values: Compassion, Responsibility, Vulnerability, and Transformation.
Pre-Departure Support
As soon as you enroll, you’ll gain access to activities, events, and community connections to prepare you for an incredible study abroad experience. With the support of your Student Onboarding Advisor, you’ll complete all the essential checklist items to ensure you’re ready to go. Between selecting courses, meeting future classmates, and making friends before you even arrive on-site — we’re here to guide you.
Pre-Departure Includes:
Group Welcome Call
As soon as you enroll, you’ll virtually meet your Student Onboarding Advisor and other students.
Academic Prep
Receive guidance on submitting official transcripts and AP/IB test scores, taking math and Spanish language placement exams, accessing course registration, and learning how courses transfer to our partner colleges.
Travel Prep
Get support as you submit copies of your passport, purchase flights, and apply for your student visa (where applicable).
Attend three required pre-departure sessions to answer all your questions before you arrive.
Access to Our Student Portal
Post on the feed, RSVP to events, and message members of your community. Vertoans make an average of four friends before they even get on-site!
Workshops and Tools
Participate in virtual workshops to gain skills in leadership, public speaking, and budgeting.
College Exploration
Participate in events to gain confidence in your post-Verto planning. Whether you’re a Channel student, you’re interested in our Direct Transfer partners, or you have other plans, we’ll ensure you’re set up for success.
On-Site Community
Verto Discovery
This is a defining moment of your life, and our programming model helps empower you to become the best version of yourself. Through Verto Discovery, you’ll develop deeper personal, community, and global connections through unique activities and interactions with staff, faculty, peers, and more — advancing your learning both in and out of the classroom.
On-Site Support
Your transformation continues on-site as you immerse yourself in a new culture and learning community. We’re here to help you as you settle into your host city, adjust to college life in and out of the classroom, manage your new independence and personal finances, and use public transportation! You’ll engage in 1:1 sessions with your on-site mentor and participate in Care Team Circles to discuss topics that matter to you, like managing culture shock, talking to your faculty, and building self-care habits.
You’ll have access to various resources to support your academic success, including peer tutoring, faculty office hours, study groups, and individual and group sessions with our academic staff — all designed to keep you on track for a successful semester.
Beyond the guidance we’ll provide during your study abroad experience with Verto, our on-site staff will also support you in planning for life after Verto!

Post-Verto PlanNING
Through college counseling and transfer services support, your on-site Care Team will ensure you’re well prepared for your higher education journey after Verto. Whether you’re participating in a Channel Partner Program, earning guaranteed admission to a Direct Transfer partner college, or need a little guidance in figuring out your next step, we’re here to set you up for success.
Through a series of meetings and interactions with your dedicated on-site staff, you’ll receive tailored advice and support to explore transfer options that align with your interests and goals.
