Since 1791, the University of Vermont has worked to build a thriving future for people and planet. Today, UVM is a top 100 research university where discovery, creativity, community, and action coalesce in support of our singular, urgent goal: make tomorrow better. Home to seven schools and colleges with 100+ undergraduate degree programs, UVM inspires students to develop innovative solutions to the world’s challenges, think and work on a global scale, and shape meaningful careers.
Here, students’ educational experience and activities are enriched by our location — from the energy and innovation of Burlington to the forests, farms, and independent spirit of Vermont. Our hometown perennially appears on national rankings that praise its livability, access to nature and recreation (including the best skiing in the northeast), thriving food and music scene, rising identity as a technology and innovation hub, and its status as a top college town.
With over 100 majors and almost 100 more opportunities for advanced degrees, our fields of study are broad and the intellectual pools are deep. And the best part is that ideas flow in all directions — English majors study economics, engineering majors study ethics. Top majors include:
- Psychology
- Business & Economy
- Political Science
- Environment And Sustainability
- Food & Agricultural Studies

While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.
You are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee to UVM! The 3.0 GPA requirement is cumulative of all college transcripts
Yes, you would still be eligible for Direct Transfer as long as you meet UVM’s minimum entrance requirements. When you apply to UVM through Verto, you will need to submit a copy of your GED and the curriculum you followed for homeschool. If you started in a high school and then transitioned to homeschooling, you would also need to include any high school transcripts.
International students are eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee for fall start only. Unfortunately, there is insufficient turnaround time for a spring start to allow for needed visa considerations.
If you have questions around the application process, work with your Verto Care Team. If you have UVM specific questions, you can connect with [email protected].
Once you arrive to your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to UVM. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.
Once UVM has completed review of your application packet, you will receive an email informing you of the initial admissions decision. If UVM needs any additional information or documents before issuing a decision, your Verto Care Team will let you know. If you are meeting Direct Transfer requirements, you will receive a conditional admission letter, and your next step will be to submit the Transfer Common Application and all official documents to get fully into UVM’s system.
- College Essay
- Final HS Transcript
- Mid-term Report
- Other documents may be required on a case-by-case basis.
You can defer your conditional admission if the program is open for the next term and has space availability. Connect with both your Verto Academic Success Coordinator and [email protected].
