ACADEMICS

Ripon College offers a comprehensive liberal arts education with a strong emphasis on experiential learning and individualized study. With a student‑to‑faculty ratio of 12:1 and average class sizes under 20, students receive close mentorship and meaningful engagement. The curriculum encourages exploration through 80+ areas of study, including the option to design your own major in consultation with faculty.At Ripon, your education is yours to create. We encourage students to explore different areas of study to find a path they are passionate about. But the journey isn’t just about course credits. Between experiential learning opportunities and our Catalyst Curriculum, you’ll graduate with more than a degree. FINANCES

Ripon College guarantees that eligible transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 2.00–4.00 will receive a merit‑based academic scholarship, ranging from $32,000–$40,000 per year for the 2026‑27 academic year. 

In addition, through The Ripon Commitment, Wisconsin resident transfer students (and new first‑year students) with a household adjusted gross income (AGI) of $75,000 or less can receive free tuition and fees. For transfer student residents of Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota your tuition and fees will be no greater than that of UW-Madison 2025 tuition and fees, giving you access to a personalized private education at a competitive price.

TRANSFER STUDENT SUPPORT

Ripon College is committed to helping transfer students feel welcome and supported from day one. The college offers a dedicated transfer‑student orientation, including access to our Registrar Office and information sessions where new transfers are introduced to campus resources, important deadlines, and student‑life departments. 

Transfer students also receive personalized support from our dedicated transfer admission counselor, who guides them through course selection, credit evaluation, and the enrollment process. Ripon’s Transfer Credit Evaluation ensures previous coursework is carefully assessed for applicability toward degree requirements, and advisors help students plan a smooth path to graduation. 

Additionally, transfer students are fully integrated into campus life, with opportunities to connect with peers through student organizations, athletics, music ensembles, leadership opportunities, and campus events.

STUDENT LIFE

Ripon College offers a vibrant student‑life experience, with nearly 50 student‑run clubs and organizations ranging from academic and pre‑professional groups to special‑interest, Greek, and diversity organizations.

From large‑scale events like “Big Item” Bingo and glow‑in‑the dark volleyball to student‑government and media outlets such as the college newspaper and radio station, there’s something for every interest. Students are encouraged to explore, lead, and build community through the campus’s rich calendar of activities and engagement opportunities.

Ripon College is a residential campus that guarantees on‑campus housing for all undergraduate students and offers 10 different residential options on its 250‑acre campus including themed housing and campus apartments. Transfer students have access to all living options.

Ripon College is partnering in the Ripon College Spain Program in Barcelona to create a customized study abroad program for Ripon College students. Ripon College students have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Barcelona through a faculty-led, semester-long study abroad opportunity.

All participating students will take a course with the Ripon College faculty director as well as three elective courses at the School for International Studies (SIS), all while experiencing life in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities. One of the three elective courses can be an international academic internship. Each course carries four semester credits.

To earn guaranteed admission to Ripon through the Direct Transfer Pathway, during your time with Verto you will need:

  • 2.0+ GPA
  • 12+ credits

All Ripon College degree paths are included in Verto Direct Transfer Pathway.

Yes! Ripon welcomes both fall and spring transfers from Verto.

While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto on-site staff to prepare and submit a Verto Direct Transfer Application for holistic review.

You are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee to Ripon! The 2.0 GPA requirement is cumulative of all college transcripts.

Yes, you can complete 1, 2, or 3 semesters abroad with Verto and remain eligible for the Direct Transfer pathway to Ripon.

Yes! Homeschooled students and those with a GED are eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee at Ripon College. Additional documentation may be requested during application review.

While not eligible for Direct Transfer, international students are encouraged to apply directly as a transfer student for holistic review.

Once you arrive to your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to Ripon. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.

The following documents will need to be included in your Verto Direct Transfer Application packet to Ripon: 

  • Verto to provide from their records:
    • Final High School Transcript
    • Mid-term Report for your current Verto semester
    • Unofficial University of New Haven final transcript for any prior Verto semesters
  • Student to submit to Verto for inclusion:
    • Unofficial college transcripts from any pre-Verto college coursework

Students who add additional semesters will need to reapply if they have not committed to Ripon by paying the $200 enrollment fee.
If their application is still under review, students are able to change their entry term.

Once your application packet is received from Verto, you can expect to receive an email prompting you to set up your applicant portal in about 2 weeks.
