Knox College provides strong support for transfer students, including a New Student Orientation program with transfer-specific programming to help ease the transition, connect you with new and continuing transfer students, and answer questions unique to transfer students. All admitted transfer students will receive a credit evaluation and are assigned a specialized academic advisor to review their credits and help them plan a personal educational path, including options for immersive experiences such as study abroad, research, immersion terms, and internships.
Transfer students have a dedicated transfer admissions counselor who provides one-on-one guidance before and after enrollment, including optional interviews, campus visits, and financial aid counseling. In addition, transfer students have access to a wide array of campus resources, ranging from the Center for Teaching and Learning to multicultural support offices, and are eligible for transfer-specific scholarships and financial aid.
Transfer students at Knox College qualify for significant scholarships, including academic transfer awards ranging from $30,000 to $40,000 per year. Additional funding options include the Land of Lincoln award ($5,000 per year for out-of-state students) or the Illinois Resident award ($5,000 for in-state students).
Transfer students can also apply for talent-based scholarships in the arts, including music, theater, and visual arts, with auditions and portfolios due by the application deadline. Additionally, students are eligible for federal work-study opportunities and the Knox Prairie Promise, which guarantees to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for Illinois residents based on FAFSA results. Yes! Knox College welcomes both fall and spring transfers from Verto.
Yes, you can complete 1, 2, or 3 semesters abroad with Verto and remain eligible for the Direct Transfer pathway to Knox.
Please note, however, that there is a transfer threshold of 2 years of college credit.
While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Direct Transfer Application for holistic review.
You are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee to Knox College! The 2.75 GPA requirement is cumulative of all college transcripts, up to but not exceeding 60 transferable semester credits (no more than two years of college coursework).
You would still be eligible for the Direct Transfer Guarantee! We do accept homeschooled students at Knox. Please be sure to submit your Final Transcript / GED Certification.
International students are encouraged to apply directly to Knox as a transfer student for holistic review.

Once you arrive at your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to Knox College. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.
The following documents will need to be included in your Verto Direct Transfer Application packet to Knox:

- Unofficial University of New Haven final transcript for any prior Verto semesters

You will work with your Verto Care team to submit a new Direct Transfer Application during your final semester abroad.
Once your application packet is received from Verto, you can expect to receive an email with your application portal log in information within 2-3 business days.
