Elmhurst makes a great education affordable by providing need-based financial aid and/or merit-based scholarships: 100% of new full-time students receive some type of scholarship or financial aid.
Transfer students are awarded a $1000 renewable scholarship on top of other merit scholarships they are eligible for.
Elmhurst University is committed to being transfer friendly and helping you make a smooth transition to the University. We offer resources specific to transfer students such as transfer credit evaluations, scholarships, a transfer admission team, orientation and more. Faculty advisors in your major will work with you individually to make sure you are maximizing your credits and your experience. Elmhurst welcomes more than 500 transfer students each year.
You can still do it all when you transfer to Elmhurst University. Take on leadership roles in one of our 100 clubs and organizations, study away again either domestically or abroad, hang out in our local City Centre or hop on the train to Chicago. There’s plenty to do on and off campus.
To earn guaranteed admission to Elmhurst University through the Direct Transfer Pathway, during your time with Verto you will need:
- 2.5 GPA
- Minimum 12 credits
While students are admitted through Verto’s Direct Transfer pathway, majors such as Nursing and Education require a separate application for admission to the Department. Some majors have minimum GPA requirements to move forward in the major such as Communication Sciences & Disorders and Business.
Yes! Elmhurst University welcomes both fall and spring transfers from Verto.
While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.
You are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee to Elmhurst provided that you are in good academic standing! The 2.5 GPA requirement is cumulative of all college transcripts. If your cumulative GPA is under 2.5, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review. Make sure to request that all official transcripts from previous institutions be sent to Elmhurst when you apply. Credits earned prior will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
Yes, please submit your homeschool transcript, GED score report and any official transcripts for college level credit that you have earned.
Yes, international students are eligible for the Direct Transfer Pathway provided they meet the English language proficiency requirement.

Once you arrive at your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to Elmhurst. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.

You will receive an email once your application is reviewed indicating that your status has changed. You’ll be able to log on to your application portal, the Bluejay Roost, to view your decision and scholarship awards.
