One of Verto’s strongest attributes is the support provided to each participant. From pre-enrollment to planning for your future post-Verto, you’ll have a team of specialists alongside you.
Enrollment: Our Verto Senior Admissions Counselors are experts in each of Verto’s programs and will be your first point of contact as you consider starting college abroad. From answering your questions about locations such as courses available and housing options, to connecting you with Verto’s Student Financial Services team who’ll walk you through payment options and scholarship opportunities, your Verto Senior Admissions Counselor will inform and advise you on everything you need to know–making the decision to study abroad the easiest one you’ve ever made.
Pre-departure: Once you’ve chosen your location, your Student Onboarding Advisor will guide you through the pre-departure process, which includes passports, applying for your student visa, sharing flight information and completing various other forms to keep you on track for your departure date. As a William & Mary Spring Pathway participant, you will also receive an invitation to connect directly with your destination partner school as part of Verto orientation.
Verto’s dedicated Student Life team hosts 3 required pre-departure sessions: the Global Orientation, Location Orientation, and Care Team Circle. These three sessions are focused on student support, health & safety, on-site logistics, cultural insights, and community building. These events are great opportunities to meet your future classmates and get you prepared and excited before you even leave home!
Verto’s Academics team will guide you in how to select courses, complete placement exams for courses such as math, science, or Spanish and Italian languages, share your AP/IB test scores, and submit your final high school transcripts.
On site: Once you arrive on site, you’ll be divided into Care Teams made up of 30-35 peers and an experienced Student Support Advisor. These Care Teams aim to lend you the support and guidance you may need while abroad, and help you discover yourself and the world around you.
SSAs provide day-to-day support for all of your academic needs during your time abroad. Through one-on-one meetings they will get to know you and your academic goals, and provide you with the resources and support to achieve them. They will also help you stay on track to maintain your William & Mary Spring Pathway requirements.
SSAs also provide an equally important role as your first point of contact for anything outside of academics. Issues with your roommate or housing, dealing with feelings of homesickness, or helping you navigate a doctor’s appointment are just a small part of the daily individualized emotional support you’ll receive from your SSA.

In most cases, a student will no longer be eligible for guaranteed admission for spring and will be encouraged to reapply for the following fall semester. Exemptions may be permitted if a student proactively reaches out with a genuine extenuating circumstance, and these requests will be subject to an admission committee review and decision.
The student’s pathway is not affected as long as the student maintains 12 credit hours. For example, a student enrolled in 15 credits that decides to withdraw from one course that is 3 credits, will still be eligible for guaranteed admission as they will still meet the 12 credit hours.
In Mid-November 2024 (around November 15)
Students participating in this program will be alerted of their official William & Mary admission decision in mid-November. The transfer deposit of $150 will be due by December 15, and is payable from the student’s applicant portal.
Students must submit their final High School transcripts to W&M by July 15, 2024 and the W&M Spring Pathway Intent Form (available on the student’s application portal) by June 15, 2024 to be considered for guaranteed spring admission. Admitted students must submit their enrollment deposit by December 15 to confirm their enrollment at William & Mary (formal offers of admission are released in mid-November).
While it is possible, William & Mary is not able to extend guaranteed admission for the fall semester. Students would need to complete our traditional transfer application & process for fall admission. Generally, transfer applicants are competitive with a 3.5 GPA and a variety of rigorous academic disciplines.
All enrolling students are required and expected to attend Spring Orientation (tentatively January 17-21), which is held in-person prior to the first day of classes for spring semester (January 22).
After students have submitted the enrollment deposit in December, students will complete an online series of modules throughout January to review our registration system, course options, and Peer/Pre-Major Advisor assignments. Please note that students are required to submit their official fall transcript once grades have been posted (and no later than January 5) to remain registered/eligible for classes. The Peer Advisor is available to assist them in the process of how to register for up to 11 credit hours, and then students will meet with their Pre-Major Advisor during orientation in January to register for their remaining coursework for securing full-time status. Students will be guaranteed a full-time semester unless approved otherwise.
Verto will provide William & Mary with the required mid-semester progress reports showing in-progress courses and grades by October 28. In addition, final grades will be sent directly to William & Mary at the completion of the Fall 2024 term.
A College Report or official letter of good standing will also be required by January 5 of all admitted students, and is also provided by Verto, however students are responsible for ensuring their enrollment checklists at W&M are accurate.
Students will be able to access the Housing Portal to complete a housing application in December only after they have been formally admitted and after they have submitted their enrollment deposit.
While on-campus housing is guaranteed, freshman-specific housing is not guaranteed and unlikely. Housing options for spring entry are very limited and made on a space-available basis. Assignments are made by Residence Life (they are not made on a “first come, first serve” basis) and are assigned in January for spring admission. The semester generally begins the last Wednesday in January, and move-in/orientation begins the Friday prior.
Students may request a preferred roommate, and Residence Life will try to accommodate those requests, however it will be very limited (and should not be expected) based on the limited space and availability during the mid-year.
Students requesting housing accommodations for medical reasons will need to work directly with the Student Accessibility Services Office and will need to provide documentation to the SAS Office as soon as they are admitted in December and prior to the start of the spring semester.
Students should contact us at [email protected] to confirm withdrawing their application for Spring.
Students should also notify, Verto College Counseling, Advising, and Transfer Services Team at [email protected] if you no longer wish to attend William & Mary after Verto.
Admitted students should expect their financial aid award packages in early December. Please ensure to submit the FAFSA & CSS Profile for the 2024-25 academic year no later than November 1, 2024 for financial aid consideration for Spring 2025. Please note that our Financial Aid offices will not have access to your information nor be able to share any official aid estimates until you have been formally admitted in November.
If you haven’t already, please ensure you submit the FAFSA & CSS Profile (listing William & Mary) for the 2023-2024 academic year no later than November 1, 2024 for financial aid consideration for Spring 2025.
- FAFSA Code: 003705
- CSS Profile: 5115
We are unable to offer any merit scholarships to transfer students (including those on the spring pathway). We encourage students to complete both the FAFSA & CSS Profile for consideration of need-based aid. Students are also welcome to apply for any external scholarships. We typically meet up to 100% of demonstrated financial need for in-state students and up to 25% for out-of-state students based on both the FAFSA & CSS Profile.
All courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
All students are admitted as undeclared. William & Mary students will declare their program(s) of study towards the conclusion of their sophomore year, allowing their first two years to explore a variety of academic disciplines across our liberal arts & sciences curriculum, including the approved transferable coursework from Verto.
Students are able to select any offered major/minor at the conclusion of their sophomore year. All students interested in selecting majors from the Mason School of Business or School of Education during the major declaration process will complete an additional admission process once they reach junior standing. Programs not offered to transfer students (including those on the spring pathway) include the Early Assurance program with Eastern Virginia Medical School and VCU’s School of Medicine; as well as our Joint Degree Programme with St. Andrew’s University.
This is not applicable as we do not admit students by major/program.
You can view the full list of course equivalencies in the William & Mary Spring Pathway course registration guide.
Students are welcome to take courses that may not transfer to William & Mary as long as they remain enrolled full-time for the semester (12 or more credit hours).
