One of Verto’s strongest attributes is the support provided to each participant. From pre-enrollment to planning for your future post-Verto, you’ll have a team of specialists alongside you.
Enrollment: Our Verto Senior Admissions Counselors are experts in each of Verto’s programs and will be your first point of contact as you consider starting college abroad. From answering your questions about locations such as courses available and housing options, to connecting you with Verto’s Student Financial Services team who’ll walk you through payment options and scholarship opportunities, your Verto Senior Admissions Counselor will inform and advise you on everything you need to know–making the decision to study abroad the easiest one you’ve ever made.
Pre-departure: Once you’ve chosen your location, your Student Onboarding Advisor will guide you through the pre-departure process, which includes passports, applying for your student visa, sharing flight information and completing various other forms to keep you on track for your departure date. As a Verto Vols Semester participant, you will also receive an invitation to connect directly with your destination partner school as part of Verto orientation.
Verto’s dedicated Student Life team hosts 3 required pre-departure sessions: the Global Orientation, Location Orientation, and Care Team Circle. These three sessions are focused on student support, health & safety, on-site logistics, cultural insights, and community building. These events are great opportunities to meet your future classmates and get you prepared and excited before you even leave home!
Verto’s Academics team will guide you in how to select courses, complete placement exams for courses such as math, science, or Spanish and Italian languages, share your AP/IB test scores, and submit your final high school transcripts.
On site: Once you arrive on site, Academic Success Coordinators (ASC) & Student Life Coordinators (SLC) work together to make up Verto’s exclusive Care Team Model. Together your ASC and SLC will support you in groups called “Care Teams” as they aim to help you discover yourself and the world around you.
ASCs provide day-to-day support for all of your academic needs during your time abroad. Through one-on-one meetings they will get to know you and your academic goals, and provide you with the resources and support to achieve them. They will also help you stay on track to maintain your Verto Vols Semester requirements.
SLCs provide an equally important role as your first point of contact for anything outside of academics. Issues with your roommate or housing, dealing with feelings of homesickness, or helping you navigate a doctor’s appointment are just a small part of the daily individualized emotional support you’ll receive from your SLC.

3.0 minimum GPA
- Transfer credit will be granted only for college level non-remedial courses in which a grade of D- or better was earned; however, many programs require a grade of C or higher.
Since our Verto Vols program is to provide an experience that demonstrates college preparedness, not meeting credit hour and GPA requirements would not allow students to enroll in Spring 2025.
No, as long as you retain course enrollment for the minimum number of transferable credit hours (earned) you will be considered for transfer admissions.
Students applying to a non-competitive program should receive an admission decision around mid-to-late November. Students seeking admission to a competitive program will have their application materials reviewed by the respective department which may take longer to render a decision. Students who do not meet initial admission requirements, will be reviewed after we receive final fall grades.
Students transferring back from their semester abroad will be incoming transfer students and will be required to submit an enrollment deposit.
Once you are admitted, you will need to confirm your transfer admissions status by paying an enrollment deposit to confirm enrollment with UT. This will allow you to begin your enrollment action items (orientation, housing, etc.).
Students should contact Norma Harrington from UT ( [email protected] ) and Verto ([email protected]) for guidance.
After you confirm your enrollment to UT. It may take a few days for the confirmation to be processed. If you do not see the orientation tab in your Go Vols portal after three business days, please contact New Student Orientation ([email protected]).
Once you are conditionally admitted with mid-term grades and confirm enrollment, you will be able to register for UT’s New Student Orientation program and register for spring classes after meeting with your academic advisor.
Verto will provide UT with mid-semester progress reports showing in-progress courses and grades. In addition, final grades will be sent directly to UT at the completion of the Fall 2024 term. (Official transcripts for students with an outstanding balance will not be sent. Once the balance has been paid, the student should have their official transcript from the University of New Haven sent directly to UT.)
Once you are admitted for the Spring 2025 term and you have confirmed enrollment, you will be sent an email to submit a housing application. You may request a roommate but space limitations could impact placement. While it is offered, UT cannot guarantee on-campus housing for all Verto Vol students. For more information, please visit housing.utk.edu.
Norma Harrington from UT ( [email protected] )
Students should also notify, Verto College Counseling, Advising, and Transfer Services Team at [email protected], if you no longer wish to attend UT after Verto.
Early January after transcripts are received and reviewed.
Tennessee (in-state) Verto Vols are eligible for scholarships in the Tri-Star Scholarship program, which includes the UT Promise Scholarship, Pledge Scholarship, and Flagship Scholarship.
The UT Promise Scholarship has a separate application, and students must complete the application by December 1 to be considered. Students are automatically considered for all other scholarships under the Tri-Star Scholarship program. Additionally, an on-time FAFSA is required to determine eligibility for Tri-Star Scholarships.
Early January after transcripts are received and reviewed.
Students may qualify for federal grants, work-study, and federal student loans for students who submit the FAFSA.
Students entering UT in spring will have the opportunity to submit a continuing/transfer student scholarship application by March 1 for competitive awards for the following fall semester.
Transfer credit will be granted only for college level non-remedial courses in which a grade of D- or better was earned; however, many programs require a grade of C or higher.
Information regarding specific program/degree requirements can be found in UT’s Undergraduate Catalog.
UT’s competitive majors require additional preparation. Students interested in UT’s Architecture, Graphic Design, Interior Architecture, Nursing, Music, Engineering, and any of the online programs will need to work with those colleges for future placement.
Verto works with all partners to articulate courses in a timely manner. However, there may be delays or new additions pending articulation at the time students register for classes. Students have access to enroll in any courses pending articulation at the time of registration and add/drop. There are no guarantees courses with pending articulations will be approved for transferability at the partner school. Enrollment in these courses is at the students discretion.
