TRANSFER STUDENT SUPPORT

Students are matched with a Success Coach to help support your transition to campus. Students that matriculate to Duquesne in the fall semester will also participate in a Transfer Orientation.

FINANCES

When you apply for admission as a transfer student we will evaluate the number of credits completed, program of study and GPA to determine your academic scholarship.

Transfer students should submit or update their FAFSA to be considered for financial aid. Pennsylvania residents should also consider completing the application for the PA State Grant. Duquesne offers a matching financial aid award to PA State Grant recipients.

Education is about those moments that move you to a new and clearer vantage point—both in terms of what you’re studying and the larger world. Duquesne University provides study abroad opportunities where you’ll discover new possibilities in your major and the perspective you need to make a bigger impact in your profession and the people it serves.

Minimum 2.5 GPA, 1 semester, 12 credits, and earn a grade of C or better in all courses.

The following programs do not fall under the Direct Transfer Guarantee, however students are encouraged to apply through the Verto Partner Application for Holistic Review and additional documents may be required upon request:
  • Music (requires an audition)
  • Nursing* and other health science programs
  • Pharmacy
  • Engineering

*Nursing is a fall-start only program, but students may pursue an internal transfer to Nursing after one semester on-campus. Students interested in Nursing are encouraged to take at least one science course during their Verto experience, preferably Biology.

Verto participants are not eligible for the Physician assistant program.

Yes! Duquesne welcomes both fall and spring transfers from Verto.

While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.

While students that were homeschooled or have a GED are not eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee, we encourage you to apply for holistic review through the Verto Partner Application to Duquesne.

While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.

If you have questions around the application process, work with your Verto Care Team. If you have Duquesne-specific questions, you can connect with Kevin Zimmerman, Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Duquesne.

Once you arrive to your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to Duquesne. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.

Once Duquesne has received your Verto Partner Application, you can expect to receive a decision from Duquesne in your email within 2 weeks.

You’re able to work with your Verto Care Team to defer your conditional admission for up to one semester as long as you continue to meet the GPA requirements.
